Tudhoe Grange School Band soloist, Emma Barrett scooped the 'Best Soloist' award at the Big Band competition in Sunderland on Saturday 10th March. She fought off stiff competition from some of the top bands in the area with her Alto Sax improvisations.

Musical Director, Adrian Biddulph, disappointed not to walk away with the top prize for Best Band was delighted Emma was chosen for the award which is a testament to her hard work. The Big Band, only narrowly beaten for the big award deserve their own congratulations for making it so far through the competition and will most certainly be back next year with their eyes on the top spot!
